  • Charted Institute of Patent Attorneys is the professional and examining body for patent attorneys in the UK

  • Members have delivered annual CPD webinars to CIPA audiences on patent searching in the recent past (2015-2019) 

  • The Intellectual Property Office is a part of the Department for Business, Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and it is responsible for IP rights including patents, designs, trade marks and copyright

  • World Patent Information - The Journal for IP information and its retrieval and its retrieval, documentation, classification, search, analysis and IP management

  • Three members are on the Editorial Advisory Board. Articles by members and colleagues are regularly published in this journal

  • The Commercial, Legal & Scientific Information Group supports and promotes the interests of members in commercial, legal and scientific workplace libraries and information services.

  • Along with PATMG, a forerunner to CLSIG, BPIP fought to keep the Patent Express Service available when it was threatened with closure

  • The Standing Advisory Committee before the European Patent Office (SACEPO), comprises five working parties which offer a well-established platform for stakeholder feedback on areas of the EPO Strategic Plan

  • The patent documentation and Information working group (PDI) is composed of experts from patent documentation centres and libraries, experts from industry, and patent attorneys

  • The group meets annually, providing members with updates on the EPO's products, services, and future projects in the field of patent information, and for EPO to receive critical feedback and engage in a constructive dialogue prior to implementation

  • A BPIP member is currently one of the CEPIUG representatives on PDI

  • Cambridge Information & Intellectual Property Meeting offers a space for those involved with the business of IP and technology commercialisation to learn from each other, to network and to keep up to date with best practice

  • CIIPM organisers, who are also members of BPIP, organise both an annual meeting, and a series of patent information training sessions every year

  • The mission of the International Society for Patent Information Users Group (PIUG) is to support, assist, improve and enhance the success of patent information professionals through leadership, education, communication, advocacy and networking

  • Through this international forum and discussion, PIUG also promotes and improves the retrieval, analysis and dissemination of patent information. 

  • A BPIP member currently serves on a number of PIUG committe

  • The main purpose of the International Standards Board for Qualified Patent Information Professionals (ISBQPIP) is to register experienced patent information professionals as Qualified Patent Information Professionals (QPIPs), via Prior Experience Recognition or via examination

  • Several BPIP members have been involved in designing and testing exam papers and are current or past participants on various ISBQPIP committees, and on the Professional Representatives Collegium, which appoints the members of the Supervisory Council and monitors the activities of the ISBQPIP
